Minakari, or enameling, is an ancient Persian metal art that involves painting and fusing brilliant colors onto surfaces. This glass-like coating is applied with heat, primarily on copper. Persian craftsmen have perfected this miniature fire technique for centuries.

Enameling requires shaping metal models and melting glass powder onto them. Heated between 750 and 850°C, the powder melts, flows, and hardens into a smooth, durable coating on metal, glass, or ceramic.

Persian enameling showcases classic patterns and motifs, reflecting the artist’s creativity. Copper and silver remain the most commonly used metals. The craft relies on special tools like furnaces, pliers, and fine brushes to achieve its delicate beauty.
